THE MOST IMPORTANT ELEMENT OF ALL BUSINESSES IS THE HUMAN ONE. WE ENABLE BUSINESSES TO BE ALL THEY CAN BE, BY HELPING THEM EMBED SOCIAL VALUES, AND HELPING IMPROVE THE WELLBEING OF THEIR PEOPLE.
The ‘Social Value and Wellbeing’ Act, is finally set to become law in September 2024. The Government is committed to have social values and wellbeing embedded at the heart of all businesses, to ensure their growth, on both national and global levels. It is now actively supporting the growth of SMEs, by allocating £100 billion, 33% of its entire procurement budget of £300 billion, to help them grow.
The Act has transformed the government’s procurement process, by levelling-up the business playing field, by giving all progressive, innovative SMEs, access to tender for £100 billion of government contracts, in favour of large corporations, since the catastrophic and costly collapse of both RBS and Carillion, and their supply chains.
Social Value and Wellbeing is the government’s framework, for scoring awards for a business's level of compliance, with the very specific, mandatory, social value and wellbeing standards and requirements. Send for our free brochure now, to find out how to meet these standards and requirements, and grow your business.
Social Value and Well-Being, are used by government and local authority bodies to assess the social values, and well-being impact on individuals working in businesses. Since January 2021, a minimum of 10% weighting has already been placed on the social value and well-being aspects, for any business bidding for any central government, or local authority contracts.
Many local authorities publish specific social value agendas, usually in the form of strategic economic or social plans, for example, the Emmaus North East Strategic Economic Plan. Manchester Authority currently applies a 20% weighting, with Brighton applying 30%. What plans do you have to embed social value and grow your business?
By 2028, government auditors will make businesses responsible for demonstrating what social value and well-being systems have been embedded in their business. In a more esoteric essence, surely it has now come of time, for us all to be SVRE citizens of our planet?
The UK government, and local authorities, are now actively looking to award contracts to SMEs. They’ve even got a specific financial target they’re aiming for. They are aiming to see at least 33% of their budgets, being spent exclusively with SMEs. This means there has never been a better time for the more progressive SMEs to start branching into the tendering process. Tendering for public sector contracts can be a prosperous avenue for generating income for SME businesses.
The opportunities to find a suitable tender, has significantly increased, due to the sheer volume of opportunities that are published. It will guarantee your payment, due to the regulations that public sector organisations are bound by. It is an efficient way to build your portfolio, and experience, as you work your way up to delivering larger contracts. It also gives you access to buyers that you may not ordinarily get to work with, and it is an effective way of generating new business, without the need for face-to-face meetings, and the expense and time of travelling.
The Human Element has worked extensively within the government, helping businesses to tender for their work. We assisted the Hospitals, tender to become NHS Trusts, bodies of private individuals, tender for the creation of private schools, and very many GP practices, tender to become GP Fundholders. In all, over £800 million of successful tenders. Get SVRE start tendering ready now.
